10 things and randoms

I found this on another blog. http://bit.ly/f66U8K
Ten things I have done that you probably haven't.
(you may have done some, but probably not all... That would be a bit strange...)

  1. been asked my a teacher to spray paint a pice on school property.
  2. Been to a special extra ballet show put on by a Russian ballet company.
  3. Made a stage decoration used in a professional play.
  4. Seen shakespeare in Czech.
  5. Had a shirt signed by the vocalist in anti-flag. (and taken a fangirl picture with him)
  6. walked away from a Norwegian idol audition cause the line was too long.
  7. Spent the night in a ball pool in an amusement park.
  8. Been sent home from work cause my carousel caught fire.
  9. Been nominated to the “sterk reklame”(strong advertisement) award in the student group as the only high school student. (the rest were all from higher education)
  10. seen a wild eagle close up. (for like a split second.:P)

hopefully this list will get more exiting as I grow up :P

I am now in Norway again. It is the middle of the night and I am blogging again. currently watching a film about the women fighting for the right to vote in the USA. It is very good, making me think of how women had to fight for even basic rights like that and how the fight is still going on some places in the world. important stuff.

This weekend has been full of lazyness and alcohol. I went to Tribute for the first time in my life, and it was surprisingly good. Except for the beer prices of course. :P
tomorrow I am going to try and do some dissertation work. Or draw some fairy tale book covers. And then go visit the lovely Ine. Work and christmas presents still ned do be fixed. But I have a tendency to procrastinate as usual. The norwegian books on feminism and psychology are really helping my work though. :) bed now. real blog thing some other day.

late night blogging

Maybe this will cure my sleeplessness...
Maybe not. I got up super early (for me) today, in hopes of getting tired at a normal time. It didn't work.... clearly. It is however effecting my spelling. :S

Since last month (which was my last proper update.) I've been doing lots of work, we had Tora over for a proper three course meal one saturday, we did some shanties and went to the pub a few times. I also had my birthday. I am now 23. Shit, when I turn thirty I'll be panicking. I blame all my friends(except for like two) for being younger then me and making me feel old! And we celebrated my birthday with a party. We even got a visitor all the way from the midlands for that event! Max came down for the weekend. And today it is Maxs birthday! YAY for other people getting older as well! ( if you read this: happy birthday dude! :D ) It was an awesome weekend and I was reminded how many lovely friends I have. I watched a lot of community because I was being kept out of the kitchen most of the saturday, then we put on toy costumes (some boys made a lot more effort then the people in our house...) Then we got drunk, had some awesome PacMan cake that Bex and Silje made and went to Shades. I used to hate birthdays but they are definitely growing on me, except for the whole getting older bit.

other then that I've mainly been working and playing *cough*WoW*cough*. I am trying to reach a fairly high level before cataclysm is released.  and next week is the hand in of my first draft for my dissertation. I am doing mine on feminism and wonder woman, which is actually interesting. I newer knew that big boobed  lady running around in a bathing suit and high heeled boots was a feminist, who would have thunk? Compulsory word count update: 1350ish. ;P a bit behind schedule but my stupid arm is acting up again. I'm sure I'll make it though, just means the weekend will be a boring one. I guess I wasted most of last weekend so a working one won't hurt me. Last week we went to see Harry Potter and the deathly hallows part one at the cinema by the way. Silje, Faye and me proudly in our Ravenclaw colours and Bex in her Slytherin green. The film was really good. Followed the book pretty well as far as I remember, didn't cut out too much like I think some of the older ones have. A bit too "look at how pretty England is" tourist film at times but you know... I guess they DO travel all over the country in the book as well, I just didn't picture it like they only went to pretty places. Not my favourite Potter film but a good one and it made me really excited for the next one. :D

I also started watching the Walking Dead, and so far I love it. It has a nice mix of really nice gore effects and a good storyline. I fell in love with some of the characters in the first episode already. So now I'm just waiting for them to die, my favourites always do... I can't decide wether to read the comic or not though. I probably will at some point, but I may wait till the series is over to do that since I already started watching it. we shall see. I just hope the show stays this good

that reminds me, since last update there was also halloween wich was pretty awesome. Silje and me dressed up as disgusting zombies and hit the town. We got quite a few interesting reactions from people. I think my favourite was.. "you know, that is almost so scary it's not even funny anymore". I like my gore. mmm.... splatters. I also had my first ever cookie monster that night. Cookie monster is a flaming shot they do at Qbar. It looks amazing but taste wise not the best I ever had... We met a few friends out and got invited to the Black Dog barbershop for a party/gig thing. This band called Ice Cold Idiots played and it was really fun. They are 14 or something but pretty darn good! so yeh. that was halloween.

this is a pretty looking short animation about an anglerpod with a hat and cigar. Hats and cigars=instant cool anglerpod. :) the animation is also very good.

and it's time to go read my book for a bit. yay for Herbjorg Vassmos depressing books. :D

good night.

fredag 8. oktober 2010

Dear Blog, this is an update

have some music:

I am doing a project on these guys for uni at the moment.

I am bored. It is 00.43 on a friday night. And it is a none drinking week. I must say, this feels kind of weird. I figured it would be good for me and my wallet to give up alcohol for the first couple of weeks of term though. And so far I feel like I have saved loads of money, and actually got some work done! woo!

Being back at uni is weird. I'm a third year now. It doesn't feel like that long ago that we had our international student induction. And now I'm in my final year. Everything counts now. No room for slip ups and messing up. Dissertations, portfolio, websites... All must be done well. I hope I can squeeze some fun in there to.

Lucily, so far being back in England has ben really fun. We've been on trips around Cornwall, seen Tintagel, been swimming in out attractive wetsuits and seen a seal (the others also saw a dead seal baby, I'm glad I stayed home that day...). I also had my hair cut right after I got back here. I now have the shortest hair I've had since I was 16. And it feels really strange still... Unfortunately mine and Siljes favourite hairdresser has moved away now, and we are once again on the look out for a hairdresser that understands that colouring ones hair pink is not a sign of insanity.

Since I got back I have also got in to the habit of going to the gym again. I never thought I'd say this, but I actually missed it. Sat on my bum waay to much over summer. All that working, and staring at computer screens made me too lazy. And Bex and Silje have big plans for going sea swimming in the winter. I may join them since I payed for a wetsuit and I need to use it. But I guess we will see.

Can't think of what to write so I'll put up some pictures:

Pretty people

Pretty Norway

tourists much?

stupid image won't rotate. I'm leaving it like this then...

"king Arthurs Castle"

And some more pretty people.
nice hats... ;)

It is now past 01.00 and way past bedtime!
Time well spent?

England time? Rambling time!

I am going back to England in a short week. Feels really weird. Feels like I haven't had any time at all at home. I blame that on all the working I've done. I have money now though, and that is a good thing. :) I have to use all the will power I have to not spend it all at once though. There is so much stuff I want/need. New external monitor for my computer is one of them. I'm getting sick of working on a3 sized artworks on a 13 inch screen. it's really annoying to only see like a third of it at once when I'm working on details. I also want about half the stuff in the topshop and new look online store, and I'm tempted to spend sooo much on games I don't need on Steam. Cursed neighbour boys who told me about that thing... another hole to trow money and time in to :P I haven't even finished most of the games I have....

So in stead of buying loads of stuff I'm trying to make stuff in stead. I'm back on the crocheting craze, and have already started on some christmas presents. Oh and these glove thingys...

Good for drawing outside when it's colder :P

One good thing about being home is off course seeing all the lovely Stavanger people again. <3 and there has been a few good drinking sessions and social gatherings with people from the good old gang :) I'll get the pictures from my camera once I get back to my card reader.
The tattoocon was fun. although it was a lot of what I've seen the last 4 years all over again. I think they need to make the stage shows and stuff more interesting and varied... The artists were good, and I was surprised to se one of the Falmouth tattooers there as well.

So all in all it's been good, but now I'm looking forwards to going back home to Fal. It is realy comfusing having two homes in two different countries. There is always someone you miss... :P Right now I'm missing the Fally people, but I guess that will change soon.

oh here. Have some stuff I've collected:

I love this. The book it waiting for me when I get back to England :)

Morgan M. Morgansen's date with Destiny over on hit record is a pretty lovely little short film.

http://www.nuart.no/ go have a look at all the cool stuff going up for the festival. Sad I'm missing it again...

I know I had more. damn my messy bookmarking. Oh well...

this is all you get

for now. 6 minutes and 28 seconds you'll neverrr get back.

I wish I was good at titles!

Hello blog! I've been absent for a while, sorry. I'd like to say it's because I've been super busy but that would be lying. And I'm bad at lying.

Since last time I got back to England. It only took me 3 days! Stavanger-Oslo on day one, then Oslo to germany on day two and Germany-France-Portsmouth and finally Falmouth on day three. We got a taxi the last bit of the way, which was surprisingly not that expensive. And I was lucky enough to not be the only unlucky Falmouth person to be stuck in Norway, so I had some nice company the whole way down :) AND I can now say I've been to Belgium and I've driven trough Nederland. I left my phones in the taxi though so I lived for a week without them. Thank god I had the internet!  :P

Since I got back I've tried to catch up on my uni work, but I'm still about a week behind :( That's not good. At the moment I'm working on some posters and I did an editorial last week.  Next week will be book covers is the plan. Not sure what books to choose yet so any tips would be greatly appreciated. I'm also working on an essay that's due in on Monday the 17th of May, Norway day. And I want to finish before the 16th so I can go out an celebrate the 16th-17th as only Norwegians in the great utland on the nasjonaldag can!

other updates? I'll probably forget most of the stuff I was planning on writing in this again. I need to start doing notes for this again I guess.

Well. I still haven't made sure I have a summer job back home. I need to put that on my to do list for tomorrow. I keep forgetting and I think my brain might be trying to tell me something.  hmm. I hope I haven't messed up and missed my chance at that job because I need the money badly.

I've lined up a couple of project for myself to do over the summer as well. I'm trying to get back in to writing and doing comics and stuff so I'll be fairly busy all summer I think. I'm just trying to make myself forget that I am missing Roskilde this year as well...

In Fish related news I missed the recording which was kind of disappointing, we did a mini shanty festival at Perranport the other week and I think we're going on tv on monday. And our spot in the shanty festival is apparently 20.00 on the Friday! That's a good time slot so I'm looking forwards to that!

Oh and I have another musical soundtrack I'm addicted to! "Spring Awakening". It's really good. Both the girl doing Rachel and the boy playing Jesse StJames in Glee are in it. I love glee. The album is on spotify: Duncan Sheik – Spring Awakening. :)

Bored now! Have some pictures! Sorry they are stupid and not rotated :P

We had a 50s party!

Coach people :)

We started doing D&D! Dan is game master.

Silly bandmates at Perranporth

And we did a may day gig in Penryn

The weather has been quite nice. Pretty colours :)

And I've been inside doing posters! yaay!
(this still needs to be scanned, tweaked and printed.)

This is just a little thing for visual studies, but it's my first digital painting I've done with my Wacom so I figured I'd put it up:)

Hopefully next update will be in less then a mont!

Volcanoes are silly things...

Norway is a fine country! In fact I spent the most part of my life here and quite enjoyed it. But I would like the possibility to leave as well. Thanks to the volcanic cloud floating round above Scandinavia I'll have at least an extra weekend here... And I won't get my money back for the train I missed. That's annoying when living on a student loan.

But looking on the bright side I'll get to have a night out with Ine and Therese and hopefully see Cathrine as well tomorrow :) That will be good.

And my mind rambles on...

Hello everyone out there in Blogland! I'm back, bringing news of sorts. No pictures and links this time though... I forgot to save them on to my new computer. Whops. You can have this song in stead:

At the moment I'm in Norway. It's grey and boring and I miss Falmouth... It's kind of silly because I'm going back in two weeks, but I do!  =P Summer is coming over there, we already had bbqs, beach walks and garden life. In norway its as grey as ever... But at least I get to meet some lovely norwegian people again. =) yaay for that.

My life has been quite dramatic without anything happening lately. You know when the stuff building up in your head gets so big it stresses you out completly? That happend... :P Stupid mind...

I've been working on an animation that I kind of hate a little bit. I need to get better at making interesting projects for myself. Some character design for the animation, this is Chopin:

Now I'm working on a small editorial thing just to get my head in the game again. But trying to work while at home in Norway doen't usiually work very well... I need soemone to come here and kick my ass in to gear. :P The other day I saw Coraline, the stop motion film based on Neil Gaimans story. It was realy good, and had many pretty tings in it... It made me think I might try and get in to making models again, but well see... :P Again it's the problem of coming up with a good project for that...

And I've been thinking about what to do for summer lately. I can't wait for summer... But I kind of want it to stay away as well. Because I have to go to Norway and do some paid work. And paid work is boring, but money is needed.... I might go to glastonbury festival as well though. That would be good... I don't have tickets yet, but their releasing the rest of the tickets people didn't pay for soon... Fingers crossed I get my hands on one! I was considering the Oya festival as well, but thats a city festival. I'd rather go crazy in a field :P So we'll see...

Hmm... other news for you?

The Fish are recording again soon. :) keep your eyes peeled for that  ;P
And I'm thinking of joining the musical theatre society next year.
I went to see their cabaret performance a couple of weeks ago, and it was a real fun performance. Made me realise how much I miss Viken though... :( (I've been having a lot of that lately... Missing people, (but I guess that just means I'm lucky to have so many people in my life worth missing...)) :P going sappy here, so I think it might be time to finish this up.... byesies!

onsdag 17. mars 2010

Happy days and stressful days

and soon spring will be here! We have already got lots of nice sunshine. And next week I will be on easter break. I will be working trough most of that though. I haven't really been very good at the whole work thing lately. My brain has needed some sorting out. I think it is mostly in the right place again now though :P And I will sort the rest of it out later, I just need to finish this project first.

In the mean time I bring you an amazing video from Paris! woo!

Silje makes a shocking confession in this video! Be prepared!

Paris prettiness and randoms

Paris... I don't even know where to start... It was quite amazing. We went on a study trip last week (I think I mentioned it in my last post?) And at first I have to admit I wasn't that impressed... On the surface Prague seemed prettier, and st. Petersburg way more interesting. But after running around doing all the touristy things the first couple of days I got to see a bit more and underneath the surface layer of «just another city» it is quite beautiful. There were so many nice museums, shops and galleries, and the people I met were mostly really friendly, even though I don't speak a word French. I think my favourite bit of the week was spending hours walking round spectacular Notre Dame and this really nice little illustration gallery we went to. http://www.danielmaghen.com/fr/index.htm It's just a little room with stacks and stacks of portfolios that we could look trough, and some pictures on the wall. All originals, almost all amazing. And the owner was really friendly and passionate about it all. It was really good... Other then that we had some amazing pizza, went to Sacre Cæur, Mulin Rouge and the catacombs. Went to see Ibsens «A Dolls house/ et dukkehjem». Had baguettes, flan and macaroons and looads of coffee to keep us going. Painful feet, annoyed faces and happy smiles... All in all a great trip, and all I want to do now is go back! There is still so much I want to see and do and experience and only three and a half days was way to short.

After we got home I haven't really been doing much. I've ordered loads of books on Chopin and a new laptop though. This time I went for the Mac Book Pro 4 GB ram, 500 GB hard drive. Basicly this beauty. It will be delivered next week and I'm really looking forwards to working on a machine that isn't making funny noises and is falling apart or freezing up half the time. Silje and Faye gave blood the other day, and then we went and had drinks with sober Max... It was interesting =P And yesterday we had and extra practice with the Fish because we have a gig on Saturday, and were doing another practice tomorrow...

Mmm... I guess that's all I have to say for this time.
Pictures from Paris time!
( don't know why some of them didn't rotate.. :S)

I'm back! and less dead! :)

Well I guess it's time for an update again. I guess I can start with last Friday. I handed in my hated information project, and half dead as I was all I wanted to do was go home and sleep. But in stead I dyed my hair. (pictures later... :P ) and went round number 6 for a session of «Hitler, the drinking game». Me and Faye had a goal to go out by half eleven, but we phailed a bit at that. In the end we got everyone with us and went out on the town. But by the time I got to Q bar I was so tired I just went home again. :( Oh' well... Next time I'll be better... I promise! :P
Saturday we had a musical night in and watched Cry Baby and Rent. Both some of my favourite musicals. :) And on Sunday we went round Dan's for some awesome food!

So this week we've been off uni. Ish. We had to do some thinking about what we're going to do with the Paris trip and project after that. I think I'm doing something simple like post cards or something. Nothing to time consuming or complicated. I just need to find the fun in illustration again after the last project. And I just want to spend my time in Paris experiencing the city and looking at pretty things, as I haven't been there before. So any good tips for things to d there would be greatly appreciated.

But yes. Other then that this has been a fairly quiet week. Lots of sleeping and trying to get my lazy ass to the gym! (I'm starting to enjoy going more now tough!) On Monday I helped Faye with a photo shoot for our friend Rob, or Monster!Monster! He does really fun and danceable music. It was good fun, and the pictures turned out surprisingly well for being taken by illustrators.... Here, some behind the scenes pictures:

And I have also been getting my craftiness on this week. I made a skirt! Not altering, like I normally do, but actual MAKING! I'm quite proud if it... :) It's a normal rectangle skirt, but really big! I used more then 3 meters of fabric for it. And it still needs to be taken in a bit..

Today I had my assessment and despite being a bit late for it it was all fine. I passed everything with a 2.1 all around. So that made me happy. :)
Tonight it is time for shanties again. I had to miss out last time because of the deadline madness. But this time I'll be twice as loud to make up for that! We have another gig on the 27th this month, at Peapods in Penryn. Hopefully we will have sorted out little crew by then. I was a but worried because we're missing a few people from the group. But I think we'll be fine :)

Oh yes. This weekend is valentines weekend. We're leaving for Paris on Sunday, but the plan is that Silje and I will repeat the success from last year, and have out own little anti-valentines on Saturday. Just fun, alcohol and friends :)

Hmm... Do I have any links for you this week?
Yes I do!

http://blog.musingsofafatshionista.com/  A blog Faye tipped me about, it's a fashion blog for plus sized women. Lots of nice pictures and inspiration.

I think that's the only one.. I haven't been to good at collecting pictures and links lately.

Now: here is a picture of my new hair!

Byesies!

Edit:

I found some old pictures that don't really belong in this entry but most of you haven't seen her yet... She's a doll I made myself... And I can't remember her name :(

It's time to BLOG!

This entry made itself all silly! It wouldn't let me format it normally...

I FINALY got myself a card reader so now I can start taking pictures again without deleting all my old ones... This makes me happy. But spending way to much money on stuff like that tho doesen't make me happy. I'd rader spend lots of mony on pretty clothes, shoes, cds, books and a new computer... My goal is to afford a mac book pro 13 inches without feeling guilty. But that might never happen so I should probably just get it now.

since last time we started the information project properly. I'm doing it on the history of makeup ( I feel so vane!) , focusing on Egypt, the middle ages and the 17th-19th century. Bad idea! The trends haven't changed much trough the ages. Pale skin, red lips and cheeks, kohl arounf the eyes and to shape/darken the brows. Only in the last say 100 years do they seem to have changed. So I'll have to come up with something smart to make it interesting.

I have also joined the gym again :) my goal is to go every other day, or at least 2-3 times a week. Lets hope I'll be able to keep it up! So far I'm  just enjoying moving my body and working out again. I sit still on my ass to much of the time with the course I'm doing.

And in the weekend we celebrated several birthdays. Silje, Bex and I baked some delicious foods and made our way up to shantyhouse to celebrate Lisa on friday. Good fun was had, good wine drank, good food eaten and good music played/ listened to...
(Oh on that note! the last week I've been listening to Tokyo Police Club loads... I went to see them at Roskilde 2008 but thein I kinda forgot about them for a bit... But they're good. listen here)
Back to the parties. On Saturday, after recuperating from a liitle hangover, it was time for Silje and Fayes late birthday party. The theme was crossdressing! And I must say, this is probably the party where people have put the most effort in to their costumes. :) Here, have some pictures:

                                              Don't they look cute?

Other then that I spend way to much time on the internets drooling over stuff, as usual.. Lately this pretty look is a favourite: Morigirls tumblrLuckily loads  of it is knit and crochet... So it's easy to make. Big soft scarves, earmuffs, fluffy hats, flowy skirts and natural matereals. Right now I'm making socks kinda like these:

http://www.sockdreams.com/

mmmm.... I'm running out of things to write about so I'll just put in some more pictures of stuff I've made lately...

These are two small owls I made Bex for christmas. Sorry about the quality, the lighting was bad and my flash sucks.

Little teddy I made as Siljes christmas present.

Oh and the last picture, I dyed my hair again:

My "bumpits" are in here as well...
Just bought them and I have to learn how to use them properly.

It's snowing in Fal!

It really is! This is the second year in a row! and before that it has apparently been 20 years since last time.. :p I went to restock on food today and they were all out of bread in Tesco. I laugh....

But yes. I came home  to a nice and warm house yesterday (thanks to Faye arriving a day before the rest of us. ) And I should currently be unpacking. And there goes my new years resolution of not procrastinating down the toilet. The trip from Norway went fairly well, exeptfor the fact that the BRILLIANT people at Gatwick had decided to put heaps of snow in from of half of the gates, so we had to wait a bit on the runway. We spent the nigth on friday at Bexes house and most of the day yesterday on a train behind some really easily impressed and not to bright Americans... "Oh' LOOK! THERE IS A BOAT ON THE WATHER!!!!!" yup. The trip gave me a bit of a headache but it's all fine now :) When We got back we made our way up to Jackobs ladder for a few drinks. It was fun seeing everyone again, it's weird how fast you can come to miss people. I was only away for a month...

Tomorrow it's back to uni to start the information illustration project. I haven't done nearly enough research for it but I think I want to do it on owls... I don't know  what to do about it tho'. I don't want to make a book... Maybe I'll just make a poster and a "bould it yourself" model or something... meh. I'll come up with something...

And lots of changes are hapening with the Fish. Our capain, Chris, is moving away, as is Tim and Molly. We are moving rehersal space to the sipwrights. It will be nice to have actual heat and stuff... But i'll miss our weekly trips to Jackobs.

Interesting links this time:
